Like most large California sheriff’s departments, San Francisco oversees many jails.
The Hall of Justice (county jail # 1 & 2) are the only jails used for intake and release of prisoners. If your friend or family member is arrested, a San Francisco bail bondsman can assist you with posting bail 24 hours a day, seven days a week at Room 201 of the Hall of Justice, 850 Bryant Street.
Visitation if no bail: Visiting is held at each housing jail on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Visiting at San Francisco County Jails are arranged by advance phone reservation on Friday only between 1 PM to 6 PM for Saturday visitation.
Sunday visits are arranged by in-person sign-ups starting at 7 AM the morning of the visiting day.
Holiday visits are arranged by advance phone reservation the day prior to the holiday only between 1 PM to 6 PM for holiday visitation

Posting a bail bond in San Francisco County can be confusing. Here are some guidelines:
- Call Golden State Bail Bonds at 1-866-492-8387. We can assist you with all types of bonds including traffic bonds, all criminal bonds including felony and misdemeanor, surety bonds and immigration bonds.
- You are welcome to meet your San Francisco bail bondsman at the jail, but you can download our forms from our website or you we will be happy to fax one to you. Don’t worry. We do most of the paper work for you.
- You can pay us in person, but we can also be paid online or on the phone with a credit card. The typical charge is ten percent of the total bail amount.
- The inmate will be taken to Jail #9 for release. It is located at 725 Seventh St., near the Hall of Justice. Even after the San Francisco bail is paid, it may take several hours before the inmate is released.
- Once the San Francisco bail bond is paid-relax! In most cases we can give your friend or relative a free ride home.
